A good idea for a bedroom or other living area is to use an Asian themed décor.
Use images and book illustrations to define the look you want to create. Strong color is a must, although this does not have to be used on every wall. Just paint one panel as a feature.

Asian culture means different things to different people so your take could be completely at odds with others. Pick out the elements that you enjoy, be it shiny rattan furniture or silk cushions, only consider items that you can live with.
If that bamboo textured lamp doesn’t do it for you, just leave it in the store and see if a house plant might bring in this aspect of your look.
Candles can really enhance the simplicity of the Asian inspired room and are very inexpensive. Also consider low level seating, maybe in a dining room, it would be a great talking point for guests and really embrace the whole oriental theme.
If your budget can stretch to it, a detailed wood carving would really set the tone. Sometimes items like these are less expensive than you imagine and eBay can be a great place to source them from.
