The New Year brings with it a fresh new beginning and fresh colors.
This is reason enough to rethink color options for your home.
Here are 6 fresh color predictions by top paint companies for 2013.
1. Inspired Violet
Dulux has come out with a bright new trend for decorating your walls in 2013. Though it comes under the bold color schemes, violet still has a soothing effect and creates a restful and tranquil atmosphere. Violet is therefore a safe choice when you want to experiment bold in your living room or bedroom. Try pairing it with pastels and nudes or get really bold by using it on an accent wall or on the ceiling.
2. Lemon Sorbet
Lemon sorbet is the recommended color of Benjamin Moore. Since this is a pastel shade, you could practically use it anywhere. The color works wonders when combined with lavender accessories in the room. Lemon sorbet is ideal for romantic bedrooms and bathrooms.
3. Peaches and Plums
The color-blocking trend has inspired Behr Paints to introduce dark hues in interiors too. These colors are best used on focal walls like the ones at the end of a hallway. The surroundings walls can then be colored in neutral shades to create contrast. To finish off, lean a grand painting on the wall to highlight both the wall and the painting.
4. Go Green
Keeping in line with the greening campaign, Beauti-Tone has come out with natural colors for interiors this year. Orange, raspberry, green and yellow are a part of their palette for the walls. The best places to try them on are the feature walls. You could also try them on some furniture in the kitchen or even in the living room.
5. French Gray
Though some feel that gray is a color for the pessimists, we would still go with this color trend as it is the best color to create continuity of spaces. Gray is the most versatile shade in the color cards and is almost indispensible. Use the different shades of gray that are being promoted by Farrow & Ball to beautify your bedrooms.
6. Solace Palette
Sico Paints has come out with its unique Solace Palette for 2013 home décor. The range consists of soft and feminine hues which exude joyfulness in the rooms they adorn. Master bedrooms, living rooms and even powder rooms are places where you could use these shades. The palette is meant to encourage love for nature and art in the fast-paced lives that most of us lead.
