Smart Tips To Make The Room Look Bigger

When decorating it is always best to make the most of the space that you have available. If you have large, open spaces this can be a very simple task.

If you have a small space however, this might seem to be a daunting task. Do not be intimidated though. With some creative designing you can pull this off and do it in style.

The colors that you use in your home can have a great impact on what the size of the room looks like. If you use dark colors for example, the space will look smaller.

Using lighter colors (whites, creams, yellows, pale greens, grays and blues) will open up the space making it seem larger.[Bringing life and Space To The Home Through Colors]

You can also use mirrors to make the room look larger. The more mirrors you have in a room, the more light that is reflected creating an effect of more space.

smart tips 2

Furniture that has multiple uses is also a good idea. For example, if you have a table that has room under it for storage, you might want to get a storage ottoman to put under it.

The storage ottomans are always a good idea because you can store things in them so they won’t be cluttering up the room, but the items inside will always be at your fingertips. Also, they will fit in out of the way places and you can always use them as a footrest.

smart tips 3

When redecorating any room and trying to make the most of your space, remove all clutter. Try not to have more than 1-3 of anything in the room. Things like books (more are ok on bookshelves of course), magazines, toys, vases, plants, should be kept to a minimum.

If you have anything on the floor, pick it up. Put things that may be eternally floor bound, like potted plants, electronic equipment, etc. on pieces of furniture or get rid of them entirely. Floor space should be used for nothing but furniture.

smart tips 4

Speaking of furniture you should choose your pieces with room space in mind. Larger pieces should be placed against walls, leaving floor space wide open. Smaller pieces can be placed anywhere, but try to leave walkways clear and keep as much unbroken floor space as possible.

As you can see, there are always plenty of ways to make the most of the space available in your home. Look around and do not be afraid to jump right in and make your home appear larger than it really is. You can do this!
