Seasonal Maintenance Tips For Backyard Aquatic Gardens

Even though you hate to maintain backyard pond or water garden, it is quite essential to create healthy environment in your backyard.

Fortunately if you take care of your garden regularly, rarely it takes much time to end up wet and dirt in the pond.

Properly planned and well established water garden takes care of itself well and requires a little seasonal maintenance.

Spring:

As soon as the spring arrives and temperatures begin to warm up, you can remove the netting and heater placed to the water pump for winterizing your garden.

In spring season, the aquatic plants get back their life and starts new growth. So, remove all the settings that you have done to winterize your water garden.

Summer:

Summer is a good time to divide over grown plants in pond. When temperature is warm enough, it brings its own problems for your backyard pond. Pests start to invade gradually.

So, try to eliminate dead leaves and debris from the pond to prevent pests. Keep the water level in check in summer and add more when it evaporates.

Autumn:

Daily leaf cleanings will be necessary for your pond, particularly at this time of year. Start feeding fishes in your pond with high protein food for their survival.
